Arenys de Munt is situated in the Maresme region, only 45 km from Barcelona. It’s a small village between the mountains and the seaside. Now, in 2005, it has more or less 7300 inhabitants.
The main street in the town is very special. It’s a river without water in a sunny day, but the river flows when it’s rains. In Catalan, it is called “riera Sobirans”. On both sides of the “riera” there are some shops and bars.
Arenys de Munt was founded in 878 aC . Its first name was Sant Martí d’Arenys and the first inhabitants were ibers. The most important and the oldest building is Sant Martí’s church.
